The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona - 03/23/2010 Abel Burnette Sr. of Whiteriver entered into rest Wednesday, March 17, 2010, at the Indian Health Service in Whiteriver. He was born Aug. 6, 1931, in Whiteriver. Abel is survived by his wife Minnie Burnette; children Raymond Burnette, Lloyd Burnette Sr., Abel Burnette Jr., Minda Burnette, Janet B. Sanchez, Leida Burnette; brother Vino Burnette Sr.; sisters Jennie Burnette, Mary Lou Tenijieth; 16 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his son Kenneth Burnette; grandchildren Floyd Burnette, Abigail Burnette; parents Theodore and Fannie (Massey) Burnette. His body will be brought home for a two night wake at his residence (2613 N. Paxson St.) in Whiteriver Saturday, March 20, at 10 a.m. A funeral service will be conducted Monday, March 22, at 1 p.m. at the Canyon Day Miracle Church in Whiteriver with Pastor Reno Johnson officiating. Interment will be at the Canyon Day Cemetery in Whiteriver, Arizona. Silver Creek Mortuary of Whiteriver handled arrangements.
