Esther Vanegas Trujillo, 96, of Kearny, passed away Tuesday, March 16, 2010, in Tucson. She was born February 17, 1914 in Sonora to Manuel and Maria Gil Vanegas. A wonderful homemaker, she was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She had been a member of the American Legion Auxilary and she was an avid bingo player, even travelling to Tucson to play bingo.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Manuel R. Trujillo and her daughter, Melba, and son-in-law, Lazaro Sandoval. Survivors include her son, Manuel (Rhonda) Trujillo of Kearny; daughters, Sylvia (Frank) Federico of Tucson and Linda (Joe) Alday of Carmen; 15 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews.
The Rosary was recited at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 20, at Infant Jesus of Prague Catholic Church in Kearny, followed by Father James Aboyi celebrating the Mass of Christian Burial. Interment was at Mountain View Cemetery in Hayden.
