HENDERSON, William Jackson (Jack)


Arizona Daily Sun, Flagstaff, Arizona Tuesday, March 23, 2010 William Jackson "Jack" Henderson, 89, died peacefully Saturday, March 6, 2010, in Flagstaff. Mr. Henderson was born Dec. 12, 1920, in Phoenix, to William E. and Amada (Moore) Henderson, also Arizona natives. He served as a fighter pilot in the U.S. Air Force and flew P38s and P51 Mustangs in the South Pacific during World War II. He re-enlisted as a captain when the Korean conflict began and he completed his military career as a major. He was a member of Local 469, Plumbers and Pipe Fitters Union working primarily in the Phoenix area until his retirement when he moved to Flagstaff. Mr. Henderson is survived by his son, William P. Henderson; sister Wilma Nell Robertson of Bisbee; and two grandsons. He was preceded in death by his wife of more than 60 years, Betty E. Henderson. He is to be buried at the national Memorial Cemetery of Arizona in Phoenix.
