The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona - 03/26/2010 Mary Thompson died at her home Saturday, March 20, 2010, in Snowflake. She was born Dec. 15, 1927, to Manuel and Lillian Velasco in Mexicali, Mexico. Mary was a mother of four, Paul W. Sanchez, Steven D. Sanchez, Donna P. Sollar and James S. Sanchez. Mary married Lee Thompson in 1975 and became a step-mother of three, Lee "Tommy," Anita and Jamie. Lee and Mary spent 34 years together. Lee and Mary moved to Snowflake in 1975. She joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1977. She had a great love for birds and elephants. She loved to dance to every kind of music. Her favorite joy in her church service was serving as a nursery leader. She worked for the telephone company for 30 years. She loved her friendships that she had made with co-workers. Mary was a lifelong member of the VFW. Her greatest joy in life came from being a mother and being with her family. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, March 26, at the LDS Pioneer Park Chapel in Snowflake with a viewing one hour prior at 9 a.m.
