DENUNE, John Mark


Arizona Daily Sun, Flagstaff, Arizona Friday, March 26, 2010 John Mark Denune, 67, of Flagstaff, died Tuesday, March 23, 2010. Mr. Denune was born May 10, 1942, in Delaware, Ohio, to John Russell and Juanita Louis Denune. He was a farmer and farmed from 1958 to 1997, both in Ohio and California. In 1960, he earned an American Farmer Degree in Ohio. Mr. Denune and his wife, Bari, loved the Native American Arts and culture, and for the past 13 years, he, Bari and son Mark owned and operated Thunder Mountain Traders in downtown Flagstaff. He retired doing what he loved. He enjoyed hiking, petroglyph and fossil hunting, and could be frequently seen sweeping the sidewalks of downtown. He was active in the Flagstaff community. Mr. Denune is survived by his loving wife of 46 wonderful years, Bari Ann Denune; children John Michael (Karen Anderson) Denune of San Diego, Jacqueline Marie (Todd) Collier of Pocatello, Idaho, and Mark Allan Denune of Flagstaff. He is also survived by his three grandchildren and his brother, Bob (Judy) Denune of Ohio. He was preceded in death by both his parents. A memorial service will be Monday at 6 p.m. at Norvel Owens Mortuary, 914 E. Route 66, in Flagstaff. In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested memorial donations be sent to the American Stroke Association through the American Heart Association, or the Red Cross Haiti Relief and Development Fund
