GILLILAND, Robert Dareld


The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Saturday, March 27, 2010 Robert Dareld Gilliland, devoted husband and father, went to be with our Lord on March 23, 2010, after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease. "Bob" was born on Aug. 14, 1931, in Oklahoma City, Okla. He married the love of his life, Linda, on May 26, 1984. Bob and Linda moved to Prescott, Ariz., in July 1990, when Bob took over as publisher of the Daily Courier. They were blessed with the birth of their son, Robert Patrick (Robby) Gilliland, in 1991. Bob was most proud of and very committed to his family. He was in the newspaper business for 50 years at various newspapers throughout the country before retiring from the Courier in 1999. He had a passion for the newspaper industry and was especially fond of the closeness he shared with those he worked with. Everyone in the company was important to him and he considered them like family. In addition to Linda and Robby, Bob is survived by his son Rick Coté (Bobbi) of Lake Elsinore, Calif., and daughter Shelena Rose Martin of Arvada, Colo. He also leaves behind his stepbrother, Ray Gilliland (Ann) of San Antonio, Texas, and numerous extended family and friends who loved him very much. Memorials may be made in Bob's name to the Alzheimer's Association of Northern Arizona, 225 Grove Ave., Prescott, AZ 86301, or Westside Christian Church, 5860 N. Williamson Valley Road, Prescott, AZ 86305. A Memorial Celebration of Life will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 10, 2010, at Westside Christian Church, 5860 N. Williamson Valley Road, Prescott.
