A Mass of Christian Burial for Beatrice Ruiz, age 76, of Safford, will be celebrated Monday, December 2nd, 2002, at the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church by Rev. Domenico Pinti. Committal will follow in the Safford Cemetery. Bea was born October 3, 1926, in Solomon, Arizona, to Pedro and Maria (Luna) Escobedo. She was one of four girls born unto this union. Following her education, Bea met Sal Ruiz. They were married February 9, 1947. Together they made their home in Safford. Bea and Sal were together for 55 years. To their union were born four children Ron, Pattie, Jim and Tim. In 1976, Bea and Sal began operating Sal's Market in Safford. They strived and worked hard together to build a successful business. Bea could often be found preparing the food for the take-out deli at the market. Throughout her lifetime, Bea reveled in cooking and making arts and crafts. Her willing hands contributed to various organizations including: the Catholic Daughters of America and the Mount Graham Hospital Auxiliary. Bea was a special person, revered and loved by all who knew her. She will be remembered as an extraordinary mother, wife, and grandmother, who always set a perfect example for her family. Bea passed away November 27, 2002, in Phoenix. Bea is survived by her husband, Salvador, of Safford three children, Patti Maciel of Phoenix, Jim Ruiz of Phoenix, and Tim Ruiz of Safford nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Bea was preceded by her son, Ronald, in 1983. A rosary and prayer vigil will be recited Sunday, December 1st, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church by Rev. Mr. Marcello Arbizo. The family will receive friends Sunday evening at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. Arrangements are entrusted to Bunker's Caldwell Chapel. The Arizona Republic December 1, 2002
