METCALFE, Bernice

The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ June 11, 2008 Mrs. Bernice Metcalfe, age 80, passed away June 5 in Boise, Idaho. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, June 14 at 9 a.m. at the Wickenburg Municipal Cemetery. Bernice was born August 20, 1927 in Culver City, Calif., to Valentine Weidel and Bertha Bys Weidel. She attended schools there and graduated from Hamilton High School. Shortly after high school she began working as a bank teller and soon was married to Jack O. Metcalfe. They made their home in the Los Angeles area. Bernice was primarily a homemaker raising a family. They moved to Wickenburg in 1988. She was active at one time in the Wickenburg Sewing Guild as well as the Friends of Music and the American Legion Auxiliary. Bernice was preceded in death by her husband Jack O. Metcalfe, August 28, 1991. She is survived by her children John Patrick Metcalfe of Williams, Ariz.; Mary Humme of Eagle, Idaho; and David Allen Metcalfe of California. Arrangements are under the direction of Wickenburg Funeral Home and Crematory.
