SMITH, Ted O'Neal


Ted O'Neal Smith, 73, passed away December 1, 2002. Born to Joseph W. (Willie) and Vera R. Smith, December 17, 1928, in Spur, Texas. Ted moved his family to Phoenix, AZ in 1957. Ted retired after 33 years from the Salt River Project, where he held jobs as a laborer, explosives specialist, and general repair and maintenance. He was also a member of the IBEW, Local 266. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 51 years, Alta Merle Hogan Smith. He is survived by brothers Layton (Buster), Larry, and Weldon Smith, and sister Wynell Fuller. Children and spouses: Cary and Judy Smith, Rheann and Donald David, Bill (Hogan) and Cheryl Smith, Rhonda Hughes. Grandchildren: Kendra and Troy, Jeremy, Leighton Robert and Delta, Sara and Patrick, Amanda, Jonathan Tonya and Matt, Tracey and Richard Ross, Steven. Great grandchildren: Cassidy, Jazmine, Isaiah, Cameron, Cris, Devin, Alexis, Zachory, Richard. Services were held Thursday, December 12, 2002 at Resthaven Park, 4310 E. Southern Ave., Phoenix, AZ.
