Edgar B. "Ed" Fry, 92, died peacefully March 24, 2010 at his home. He was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on January 5, 1918. He graduated from Huntington High School, Huntington, West Virginia in 1936. He attended Marshall College for two years, and received a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration from Duquesne University in 1952. In World War II, he was a member of the 14th Air Force "Flying Tigers" and served in China, Burma and India. He worked as a systems analyst for Dravo Corporation in the Pittsburgh area, where he lived the first half of his life.
In 1961 Ed moved the family to Phoenix, and was a corporate officer in the Training Department for Valley National Bank in Phoenix. Athletics and physical fitness were important in Ed's life. He was on the West Virginia High School State Champion teams in both football and baseball. Ed continued his sporting activities upon moving to Phoenix, participating in softball, bowling, and golf leagues. Water skiing soon became his passion and he was a member of the Saguaro Water Ski Club, serving as President in 1965.
Ed is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Laverne (Boss), daughter Bonnie (John) Robinson of Yuma, son Edward of Flagstaff and son Richard (Gerda) of Germany, four grandchildren, Felisa, Juliane, Anthony and Stephanie and four great grandchildren, Justine, Jocelyn, Jack and Maximilian.
Services will be held April 8th, 10:00 a.m. at Ss. Simon and Jude Cathedral, 6351 N. 27th Avenue, Phoenix, reception follows at the church hall.
