Geraldine McClenny Petersen passed away on December 3, 2002 in Mesa, Arizona.
Jeri, as she was known to her friends and family, was born to Homer and Geneva (Guinn) McClenny in Ajo, AZ on October 26, 1929.
She grew up in Ajo and graduated from Ajo High School in 1947. She attended Arizona State College in Tempe, was a member of the Pom squad, and belonged to the Zeta Sigma sorority. She was also a member of the Ajo Beta Sigma Phi sorority. Over the years she worked at the Ajo Copper News, the elementary school as a secretary, and as medical secretary to the New Cornelia hospital administrator. She retired from the hospital in 1985.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Jack Petersen by her children and their spouses: Jack and Maureen Petersen of Flagstaff, Jeanie and Bill Brack of Tempe, Rob and Tina Petersen of Ajo, Tim Petersen of Ajo, and Scot and Marcy Petersen of Gilbert by sister Maxine Rasmussen ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Monday December 9, 2002 at the Ajo Federated Church. Private graveside services will be held at a later date. Arrangements by Douglass Funeral Home. Contributions may be made in her memory to the Cure for Lymphoma Foundation, 215 Lexington Ave., New York, NY 10016 or to the Hospice of the Valley, 6063 E. Arbor Ave., Mesa, AZ 85206.
