PETERSEN, Marvin Don


The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona - 03/30/2010 Marvin Don Petersen died Friday, March 26, 2010, at his home in Heber. Marvin was born Aug. 4, 1937, to Don and Mada Petersen in Heber. Marvin was raised in Pinedale and graduated from Snowflake Union High School in 1955. He served a church mission in the Southern United States in 1957- 1959. Following his church mission he served in the United States Army. On April 24, 1963, he married the love of his life Kay Defee in the Mesa, Arizona temple for time and all eternity. Marvin and Kay raised their family in Globe and Williams before returning home to Heber where they have continued to reside. He loved to play sports and loved to watch his boys and grandchildren play them as well. He loved the Lord and had a very strong testimony of his gospel. He served faithfully in various callings in the church during his life; including being a member of the bishopric, high councilman, financial clerk, and home teacher. He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years Kay; five sons Kevin (Becky), Jay (Shye), Brent (Chalon), Derek (Tracy), Brian (Stacy); 24 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; brother Lawrence and sister Ina Hancock. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Jean McMullin. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 30, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Heber at 11 a.m. A viewing will be held that morning at 9:30 in the Relief Society room.
