Sarah B. Williams, 88, of Phoenix Arizona, died March 9, 2001 after a brief stay in a health care center in Phoenix. She was born May 30, 1912, in Whitakers, North Carolina.
Her thirty-four year employment with the Internal Revenue Service carried her from Newark, New Jersey, to Phoenix and San Diego.
Mrs. Williams, a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great great-grandmother, was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Joseph Williams. She was the last of eight siblings.
Survivors include her loving daughter, Barbara Callahan and one for whom Sarah served as parent, Alberta Bass. Five grandchildren: Lisa Lowery, Atlanta, Georgia; Stephen Callahan, Phoenix, Patrick Wright of Phoenix and Eric Wright, New York City; and Deborah Wright Morgan, Houston, Texas. Two sons-in-law, Osborne Callahan of Phoenix and Herbert L. Wright of New York, ten great-grandchildren, two great great-grandchildren, one sister-in-law, Mildred Byrd of East Orange, New Jersey and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins from New York, New Jersey, Arizona, Maryland and New Mexico, will remember her with love and gratitude.
Visitation was Wednedsday, March 14th, 2001, at Botimer's Funeral Home. Services were held Thursday, March 15, 2001 at Historic First Presbyterian Church, 402 W. Monroe St., Phoenix.
