DE VOR, William (Bill) Floyd


William 'Bill' Floyd De Vor, 82, of Phoenix Arizona, has passed his soul to the loving care of our Lord, October 31, 2001. He was born on May 11, 1919 in Rockvale Montana. He served in both World War II and the Korean Conflict as an A & P aircraft mechanic specializing in sheet metal battle damage as well as a navigator/bombardier flying on several missions. Bill retired from Garrett Turbine Engine Company (Allied Signal) after 35 years where he was one of the top manufacturing engineers who helped develop, design and build many of the Garrett aircraft turbine engines and much of the tooling needed to manufacture engine components. He was a Mason in Arizona Lodge No. 2 F. & A.M., Phoenix Arizona, welcomed April 1962; and an El Zaribah Shriner, Booster Past President. Bill had a passion for gardening, hunting, and fishing. He treasured the time he spent in his back yard visiting with family, friends, and neighbors where there was much ado about nothing. Bill married Irene Cook November 29, 1942, his wife, friend and partner of 59 years. He is survived by his wife Irene S. De Vor, son Michael W. De Vor; daughter Shaun L. Ongstad; granddaughters Melissa C. Elliott and Ashley M. De Vor; sisters Elaine Osborne, Ruby Yetter, Juanita Fulford and Bobby Mc Ewing; his loyal dog Timmy; and many loyal, caring, and loving friends. A memorial service was held Saturday, November 3, 2001 at Green Acres Glendale Mortuary, 5830 W. Missouri Ave, Glendale. Please send memorial contributions to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E.
