Colleta Robbins, 80, passed away on March 21, 2010, at the Family Hospice Care in Prescott, Ariz. as the result of complications from an accidental fall.
Colleta was born in Mt. View, Okla. on Dec. 24, 1929 to George L. and Retha R. Martin Coon.
When Colleta was four years old, her family moved to Garland, Texas where she lived until graduation from Garland High School in 1947.
Her father was involved in raising registered Hereford cattle as well as farm management for onion and cotton growers in several Texas towns including Garland, Bartlett, and Laredo.
Colleta often spoke of her happy childhood, loving parents and her involvement in community and school activities.
She regularly sang at her church, weddings, and numerous events in her hometown. She attended East Texas State Teachers College in Commerce, Texas, where she met the love of her life, Paul Robbins. They married on Jan. 2, 1948 and lived in Garland, Quitman, and Laredo before moving to Blythe in 1951.
Colleta worked in the office for her father at Ripley Gin Company. She was employed by Wilco Produce for 25 years as a bookkeeper and office manager and then worked for Martori Bros. and CCT in Phoenix.
Colleta was highly respected for her dedication and commitment to her work and fellow co-workers. She served as President of the Soroptomist Club of Blythe, as well as being very involved in community growth.
Paul and Colleta moved to Prescott, Ariz. in 1975, where Colleta worked as a horseman's bookkeeper and office manager for 13 years at Prescott Downs. She earned her real estate license in Arizona in 1981 and actively sold real estate until 2000. Colleta had many interests and hobbies including genealogy. She researched the Coon and Robbins families' history back to several generations.
Bird watching, card games, going to the casino, and playing with her dog "Georgette" occupied her days but she enjoyed spending time with her family the most.
She was a vocal supporter of her three grandsons and great grandchildren at their ball games.
Survivors include: husband of 62 years, Paul T. Robbins; daughters, Paula Robbins Gross and Colleen Robbins Pouquette; sister, Jenny Hart - all of Prescott; grandsons, Matt Gross, Josh (April) Gross, and Luke (Shanell) Gross; great grandchildren, Jaycie, Isaiah, Bailey, Clay, Kory, Cole, Brady, and Justin; several loving nieces, nephews, and in-laws.
