Ajo Coppers News 9/14/2005 Joe G. Elder, 67, died Saturday, September 10, 2005, in St.Joseph Regional Health Center in Bryan, Texas. He was born in Winters, Texas, on March 29, 1938. Mr. Elder was a veteran of the US Army. At one time, he lived in Ajoand worked at Phelps Dodge. Since 1969, he had lived in Bryan, Texas. He completed his electrician's apprenticeship in 1969 and became a master electrician in 1973. He attended the University of Arizona, Texas A&M University, and Blinn College. He taught part time in Blinn College's Workforce Education Program and was retired from BTU as a training specialist and electrical apprentice instructor. Mr. Elder is survived by his wife, Karen Elder of Bryan,Texas.; by his son, Guy Elder of Bryan, Texas; by his daughters & sons-in-law, Patricia & Brian Henson of Fort Worth, Texas, Michele & Joseph Brooks of Brenham, Texas, and Sheila & Shawn Vincent of Austin, Texas; by his brother, John F. Elder of Spiro, Oklahoma; by his sister, Dean Holder of San Antonio, Texas; and by a sister-in-law & brother-in-law, Lois & Robert Putz; and by his five grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Services were held Tuesday, September 13, at Hillier Funeral Home in Bryan, Texas, with Pastor Gary Samford officiating. Burial will be at Bryan City Cemetery. Arrangements were by Hillier Funeral Home of Bryan, Texas.
