Ajo Coppers News 9/14/2005 Marie L. Johnson died Saturday, September 10,2005. She was born May 5, 1931, in Ajo to Morris & Mary Davis. She was graduated from Ajo High School in 1949. She was a charter member and charter Honored Queen of Ajo Bethel #5, International Order of Job's Daughters, a member of the Order of Eastern Star in Ajo, Clifton, & Morenci, and served as Worthy Matron of the order. In May 16, 1951, she married Gale R. "Shotgun" Johnson. They lived in Ajo until August 20, 1961, when she moved with her family to Toquepala, Peru. After returning to the United States, she lived in Tucson, Ajo, Morenci and finally in Clifton. She was an active member of the First Assembly of God Church in Morenci. "Marie loved the Lord, loved to laugh, and playing the piano was her ministry," said her family. Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her father, Morris Davis, and by her daughter, Carrie Louise. She is survived by her husband,Dick "Shotgun" Johnson; by her daughters Roseanna Burnside and Charlotte Johnson of Clifton; by her mother, Mary G. Davis of Ajo; by her brothers, Clarence Davis of Tempe & Kenneth Davis of Thatcher; by her grandchildren, Terisa Vasquez, Nathan Burnside, and Tiffiny Moore; and by many cousins, nieces, and nephews. A celebration of her life will be held on Friday, September 16, at 10:30 a.m. at the First Assembly of God church at 210 Stadium Drive in Morenci. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Marie Johnson's memory to the Missions Fund at the First Assembly of God in Morenci.
