STRAUB, James (Jimmy)


The Arizona Republic 3/25/2010 Straub, James "Jimmy" passed away after a 6 year battle with Alzheimer's. Jimmy was born in Chicago in 1949 where he met his lovely bride at the age of 22. He worked for "Ma Bell" and AT&T for 31 years working his way up from a draftsman to a Regional Director for the West Coast. Serving three years in the Army during the Vietnam War, he served his country as a draftsman in Korea. His career took him from Chicago to New Jersey in 1983 and then to California in 1996. After retiring from AT&T in 1999 Jimmy and Rosemary relocated to Arizona. It was at this time that Jimmy was first diagnosed with Alzheimer's. In his last 5 years Jimmy was lovingly cared for by his wife Rosemary, and most recently by the wonderful people at Emeritus at Barrington Court in Danville. Throughout his life, Jimmy enjoyed a variety of outdoor activities and exercise. He became an expert griller, avid golfer, and recreational scuba diver. He enjoyed long walks and hikes with his family and friends. In his later years, Jimmy enjoyed his grandchildren and enjoyed spending hours playing with them. Jimmy is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Rosemary, and children Nicole (Stefani) and her husband Tony, and Jeffrey and his wife Shawn, as well as his 3 grandchildren, Sophia, AJ, and Zoe. A large loving family of one sister and three brothers, numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends will miss him dearly.
