IVEY, Bill


The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona - 03/26/2004 Bill Ivey, 70, died in Concho March 19, 2004. He was born in Louisiana, and was the sixth child of 10. When he was a child his family moved to California. Bill grew up in Los Angeles and attended school there. He began working for McDonnell-Doughlas as a young man and had a career spanning over thirty years in aircraft manufacturing. Bill met his wife Shirlene in 1970. He enjoyed football, especially the San Francisco 49ers. He also had a passion for speed and was nicknamed "The Roadrunner." bill was well liked by all he met and will be dearly missed. He was an active member of the Show Low Seventh Day Adventist Church. Bill is survived by his wife Shirlene; five sons, Bill Ivey, Dwayne Ivey, Kevin Ivey, all of California, Derek Duncan (Queen) of Florida, and Alfred Duncan of Indiana; two daughters, Vonzella (Charles) Gant and Brenda (Phillip) Bias both of California; three brothers, Allen (Julia) Ivey, William (Jean) Ivey, and Joe (Doris) Ivey all of California; one sister, Ruth (Tommy) Spratt of Texas; his step-mother, Robbie Ivey of California; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws. He was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, DeLondia Ivey in 1982. Funeral services will be held Friday, April 2, at 1 p.m. at Owens Mortuary in Show Low.
