The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona - 04/06/2004 Dorothy Beard Davis, 79, died at the Kindred Hospital in Phoenix, April 1, 2004. Dorothy was born Dec. 27, 1924 in Springerville. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Springerville for over 50 years. She was an accomplished pianist and gave piano lessons to many local youngsters. She served as Apache County Recorder and worked in food service at the White Mountain Communities Hospital. She was active in the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary John H. Slaughter Post No. 30 and for many years, wrote a personal column for the Round Valley Paper (a.k.a. Apache County Reporter, a.k.a. Apache County Paper) called "GrandmaĆ­s Meanderings." Her survivors include her children, Richard (Toni) Davis, Springerville, Kathy (Wayne) Roe, Olathe, Kan., May Maxwell and Randy Sullivan, Globe, and Fran (Charles) Dobey, Durango, Colo., 11 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Preceding her in death were son Tim Davis; brother Sam Beard; sister Louella Beard, one granddaughter and one great grandson. Funeral Services for Dorothy were held at the First Baptist Church in Springerville, Saturday, April 3, 2004. Interment was at the Springerville Cemetery. Jewkes Mortuary, Springerville was in charge of the arrangements.
