The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona 04/06/2004 Phaon Marie Mettie Duke, 71, died March 31, 2004 at Navapache Regional Medical Center from an unexpected illness. Marie loved camping, fishing, yard sales and taking pictures of her family. She loved and was provider for her mother Fern Willis for many years. Marie was fiercely independent but loved her family just as fiercely. Marie was survived by her daughters, Judy Ingerson (Tom) Wallace, Phaon La Denne (Kurt) Lilly; her son, Terry Wade (Janice Lilly) Duke; grandchildren, Travis Wade Lilly, Teri LaDenne Wilkining, Phaon JaNette Moore and Tammie Danice King; step children, Suni Marie, Bo Jim and Shanna Leigh Jordan Duke; great grandchildren, Meg Ann Marie Duke, Demi Denise Duke, Sami Danice Ashlee Glynn and Chelsea Lee Ann King, Westie LaDenne Wilkining and coming soon Lyndsie Phaon Moore; her brothers, Joe Mettie, and Lewis Mettie; sisters Celia Parkinson, Janet Smelser and Walldenne Gahm; and her mother 95-year-old, Fern Mettie Willis. She was preceded in death by her father, Lewis Phaon Mettie; daughters, Westie Danice Lane and Glenna Marie Baker; step-grandson, Phillip James Jordan Duke and sister Jerry Penrod.
