CARABEO, Juan (John) Encinas

Eastern Arizona Courier, Safford, AZ Wednesday, March 31, 2010 Juan Carabeo Mr. Juan (John) Encinas Carabeo, 78, passed away peacefully Friday evening, March 26, 2010, surrounded by his family. Juan was born Oct 17, 1931, to Faustino and Ageda Carabeo in Dos Cabezas. In 1933, his family moved to Bisbee, where he grew up. Juan was married to his “linda esposa,” Carmen Romo Carabeo, for the past 53 years. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Patricia; brothers, Heriberto and Ramon; sisters, Jessie, Anita and Licha. Juan medically retired from Phelps Dodge Corporation as a flotation operator in 1984. After his retirement, he took a new occupation and the greatest job of all, babysitting his grandchildren full-time. For the past 30 years, he was the daytime caregiver for eight grandchildren. Juan was the first male certified day-care provider in the state of Arizona. Hobbies included gardening, producing some of the most beautiful roses in the area, watching television (sports/sci-fi) and swinging on his front porch. He was a true patriot who flew the American flag proudly. His pride and joy is the empire that he and Carmen created: children: Maria (Taco) Brinton, Johnny (Dawn) Carabeo, Annie (David) Quintino, Cathy (Rob) Maschue, Carol Ulery and Brenda (Jimmy) Street; grandchildren: Angel (John) Carden, Gabriel Brinton, Chuy (Nicole) Quintino, Jon Jon Quintino (Elizabeth), Sean Maschue, Christopher Maschue, Monica Maschue, Daniel Maschue, Kelsy Carabeo, Juanito Carabeo, Kylee Carabeo, Becca Ulery, Charleigh Street and Brooklyn Street; great-grandchildren: Anna Quintino, Mallory, Brielle, Jayce and Eli Carden, Elias and Andres Quintino. He is also survived by his sisters, Aurelia (Lorenzo) Gonzales and Angie (Don) Casillas; brother, Frank (Mary) Carabeo and many nieces and nephews. Juan will be greatly missed by all; his work on earth is done. He was a fun, loving husband, dad and tata.
