James "Jim" Rees of Chandler, AZ and Elkhart, IN passed away in Tempe Arizona on March 25, 2010, after a prolonged illness at the age of 88. Jim was born on November 10, 1921 in Muncie, Indiana to Ray and Noma (Bennett) Rees. He is survived by his wife Joann Rees, son Phil (Tina) Rees, granddaughters Alexandra and Katie, and sisters Janet (Cecil) Giddings of Noblesville, IN and Betty (Sam) Caprette of Chagrin Falls, OH. He is preceded in death by both his parents, his sister Helen Rees and brother Charles Rees.
A graduate of Indiana University, Jim was a trust officer for Key Bank in Elkhart. Jim was a veteran of World War II and a longtime member of Rotary International. He served on the Board of Bashor Home in Goshen, IN, a home for troubled youth for 18 years. He was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Elkhart and Sun Lakes United Methodist Church in Sun Lakes, Arizona. Jim was a compassionate man with a deep commitment to service and volunteerism; he will be missed greatly by his family and friends.
A celebration of his life will be held on Monday April 5, 2010 at 10:00 am at Falconer Funeral Home at 251 W Juniper Ave, Gilbert, AZ. Interment will be private.
