Howard, William Michael "Mike" passed away on March 28, 2010, in Phoenix, Arizona. Mike fought a valiant battle with Melanoma. Mike was born to June and C.J. Howard on March 16, 1948 in Ely, Nevada. He grew up in Nye County in Tonopah & Smokey Valley, graduating from Tonopah High School in 1966. He was active in all sports and especially excelled in track. He was student body vice president. He furthered his education at Arizona State University where he received his BSBA degree. He completed his Masters Degree at San Jose State. Mikes' career was in Education and Business Intelligence.
Mike is survived by his loving wife Colleen McGee Howard and resides in Anthem, Arizona where they made their home; beloved daughter Katherine Lauren Willingham, husband Rob and their daughters Madison Kaylin & Alexandria Lauren, of Livermore, California; a son Blair Jemeyson Howard of Hilo, Hawaii; a son Jace Michael Howard of Hurlbert, Florida; a daughter Elisabeth O'Brien of Carlsbad, California; a daughter Kristin Escue, husband Logan and their daughters Ellery Elisabeth and Vivian Bleu of Oakland, California; a loving sister Melinda Forsberg and her family Jack, Chan Jo and Atha of Garland, Utah, dear friends John and Marjorie Sepulveda of Tuson, Arizona.
Mike and Colleen dearly loved their family get togethers, their desert life and their golf outings. He will be remembered by his family a a loving father, husband, brother, uncle and grandpa; by his friends as a loyal and positive influence; by his colleagues as a fearless warrior and foe. The love and laughter he brought into our lives will be in our hearts forever. The family would like to thank the staff at the Mayo Clinic and Hospice of the Valley Sherman House for the warmth, comfort and loving care they gave to Mike and his family. A celebration of Mikes life will be held at the Wente Winery. 5050 Arroyo Road, Livermore CA at 1:00 PM, Friday, April 2, 2010. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in Mikes' name to the Mayo Clinic Cancer Research Program, Dept. of Development, 13400 E Shea Blvd., Scottsdale, AZ 85259
