The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona - 04/02/2010 Lucille Tyler Greenwood, wonderful mother and grandmother died peacefully March 28, 2010, due to failing health at her home in Eagar surrounded by family members. Lucille was born Oct. 1, 1923, in Ft. Thomas to William Oscar and Mary Brown Tyler, the second of eight children. Her youth was spent there with many cousins and aunts and uncles nearby. Her father owned a dairy farm and was bishop of their ward for many years. She attended Gila Jr. College where she met her future husband, Rolf Young Greenwood. They were married Nov. 26, 1943, and lived in Eagar most of their lives. Rolf died in June 1999. They are the parents of seven children Sue Ann (Joe) Slade of Monticello, Utah; Janet (LaMell) Nikolaus, Mechanicsville, Virginia; Marcia Heap of St. Johns; Bill (Shelly) Greenwood and Lori (Gary) Eagar, both of Eagar; Earl (Susi) Greenwood of Mesa and Rita (Bruce) Buhler of Germantown, N.Y. In addition to her children, she leaves behind 32 grandchildren; 56 great-grandchildren; brothers Kent, Ivan and Ray Tyler and sister Norma Weddle. Lucille worked for 28 years at the post office in Eagar. She was a wonderful homemaker and excelled as a seamstress, cook, candy maker, gardener, quilter and did all kinds of handwork. She served in all Stake and Ward organizations of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at some time in her life. Lucille was a visiting teacher up until last year. She was always taking food or vegetables to friends, neighbors and those in need and serving others any way she could. She enjoyed belonging to the White Mountain Hospital Auxiliary organization where she was a charter member and served for almost 50 years. A viewing will be held at Burnham Mortuary, 535 N. Main St., Eagar, Friday, April 2, from 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 3, at 10 a.m. at the Amity Ward Chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 578 West School Bus Road in Eagar.
