Darrel Wade Butler, beloved father, died peacefully at his home in Vernon April 12, 2004.
He entered this world June 7, 1931, the youngest son of Ray and May Butler. He was a lifelong resident of the beautiful White Mountains. He attended grade school in Show Low and graduated from Snowflake Union High School in 1949. While in high school, he started courting his sweetheart, Jackie N. Fisher. They were married Oct. 12, 1950 in the Mesa Arizona Temple. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping with family and friends. He was involved in both civic and church activities.
He was a member of the Show Low Volunteer Fire Department, served as a councilman for the City of Show Low, and was an avid supporter of Youth Sports Programs. He served honorably in many callings for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Bishop of Show Low Third Ward, Branch President of the Vernon Branch, and a temple worker in the Snowflake Temple.
He is survived by his wife, Jackie and their five children, Leann Butler of Mesa, Brett (Janita) Butler of Show Low, Mark (Mitzi) Butler of Show Low, Marci (Frank) Westbrook of Vernon, Cole (Traci) Butler of Snowflake, 13 grandchildren; two brothers, Claude Butler of Mesa and Hal Butler of Show Low; one sister, Valoe Bryant of Show Low and the syndicate.
Funeral services were held Saturday, April 17 at 10 a.m. in the Show Low LDS Stake Center. Interment will be in the Show Low Cemetery.
Owens Mortuary of Show Low handled arrangements.
