Floyd Lee, 66, died April 13, 2004 at his home in Lakeside.
He was born and raised in Lakeside and lived there most of his life. After leaving high school Floyd joined the US Navy and served for four years. He served on the USS Ticonderoga, mostly in the South Pacific. Floyd met and married Betty Jean Merrill of Phoenix Sept. 22, 1961 in the Mesa Arizona Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. While in the Navy he received training to be a machinist.
His father taught him mechanics and welding and he used this training all of his life. Floyd worked for Doy Reidhead Logging for 10 years as a heavy equipment mechanic. He then worked at the Power Plants in Joseph City, St. Johns and Benson for over 20 years, retiring in 2003. Floyd always maintained his own mechanic shop in Lakeside. He enjoyed the logging woods with his sons, especially taking rides in the mountains with his sweetheart Jean and Dutch Oven Cookouts with his family.
Floyd is survived by his wife, Jean Lee of Lakeside; three sons, Warren (Peggy) Lee of Lakeside, Dirk (Wylenn) Lee of Lakeside, Todd (Misty) Lee of Show Low; three daughters, Gay (David) Tenney of Linden, Susan (Robert) Holden of Lakeside, Janelle (Joe) Hitchcock of Linden; two brothers, Ivin Lee of Joseph City, Ted Lee of Taylor; five sisters, Lola Woods of Washington, Tansey Houghton of Snowflake, Jetta Carns of New York, Pauline Brewer of Show Low, Lerain Frost of Holbrook; and 21 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, April 16 at the Pinetop Lakeside Stake Center The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
