Henry O., Jr.
Henry O. Bjorlie, Jr. Left to join the Company of Saints on December 4, 2002. He was born to Rev. Henry O. Sr. and Gladys Lorraine Bjorlie on March 30, 1929 in Faribault, MN.
He was a graduate of St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN and went on to receive a Masters Degree in Deaf Education from Gallaudet College in Wash. D.C. and a Masters Degree in School Administration from Calif. State University, Northridge. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1951 to 1955 and the reserves 1955 to 1959. He loved people and had a special concern for the Deaf. For 36 years he dedicated his skills to the education of "his kids", as Teacher, Coach, Principal, Superintendent, Father figure and Friend, at schools in South Dakota, New Mexico and Rome and Long Island, NY. He had been a member of Kiwanis from 1961 and active in many organizations including serving as member-board member in the Conference of Administrators Serving the Deaf from 1975 to 1991. He was a life long member of the Lutheran Church and served as Congregational President and Board Member in the ALC, LCMS, LCA, and ELCA SYNODS. He was extremely popular and well loved by his many friends, family and deaf students.
Grateful for having shared his life is Lorna, his wife of 49 years and his children, Jackie Bailey, Sioux Falls, SD. John Bjorlie (Mindy) and Lisa (Bruce) Milack, both of Scottsdale. He also leaves 6 grandchildren, Chris and Erin Bailey, Paul and Andrew Bjorlie, and Rebecca and Nick Milack and two cousins Sue Brekke, Seattle, WA and Raymond Brekke, Faribault, MN.
A memorial service was held at La Casa De Cristo Lutheran Church, 6300 E. Bell Rd., on Saturday, Dec. 7. The family requests memorials be directed to La Casa De Cristo Building Fund. Arrangements Entrusted to Messinger Pinnacle Peak Mortuary.
