CLIO - James Edward James, 59, died Sunday, December 1, 2002, at his residence after an illness.
A memorial service was Sunday, December 8, 2002, in Temple Beth Israel in Florce, SC, directed by Waters-Powell Funeral Home.
He was born in Kokomo, Indiana, a son of the late Ralph Edward and Berta Lawson James.
He earned his bachelor's degree from UMBC. He was retired from the U.S. Navy, having served in the Vietnam War. He served on the USS Valley Forge and the USS Ticonderoga. He was a member of the Florence County Mental Health Association, Marlboro County Hospice, and the Fleet Reserve Association.
Survivors include his wife, Julia V. James of Clio; a daughter, Jennifer Elaine James of Phoenix, AZ; two sons, Jason (Elizabeth) James and their children, Matt and Ashley, of Annapolis, MD; Jeremiah James of Cambridge, MA; and his mother-in-law, Helen Jordan of Crossville, TN.
