KAMELL, Youssef G.


Mr. Youssef G. Kamell, 85, passed away December 4, 2002. Predeceased by his beloved wife, Lucy Ibrahim Louka on September 25, 2002. Born Mansura, Egypt, he received his degree in law and became Chancellor of the Appellate Courts in Egypt. He immigrated to the United States in 1967 and became Assistant Manager in Shepard's Citations, Colorado Springs, Colorado, until his retirement in 1978. His life works included authoring 4 books: "Lady of Light"; "Synopsis of the Four Gospels"; "Sharing the Love of Christ with our Moslem Brethren"; "Coptic Orthodox Papal History". He served as the Secretary General of the Coptic (Egyptian) Orthodox Lay Council legally representing a nine million Coptic Christian community before the Egyptian Government. He is survived by his loving children Salwa (Amazis), Nabil (Souzanne), Aadel (Sonia) and Rafik, 8 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren, his brothers Michael (Laila) and Mounir (Yvonne). A memorial service was held at Green Acres Chapel of Light on Saturday, December 7, 2002. Father Marcus Mansour officiated at funeral services at St. Mark Coptic Orthodox Church, 525 N. 74th Street, Sunday, December 8, 2002. Published in the Arizona Republic on 12/7/2002.
