The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona - 04/20/2004 Irma H. Lyon, 88, died April 14, 2004 in Snowflake. She lived in Pinetop for the past 44 years and has worked as a loan officer with the Bureau of Indian Affairs for 37-1/2 years. She worked at Uintah and Ouray Agency, Ft. Ouchesne, Utah, Ft. Apache and the Pima Agencies. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Irma graduated from Sherman Institute in Riverside, California; and also graduated from Haskell Institute in Lawrence, Kansas were she majored in business and accounting. In school, Irma was in a quartet where she sang Alto. They sang at many civic and school events in and around Los Angeles and Southern California. For many years, Irma played the lead role in the Annual Uintah Basin Industrial Convention's Indian Pageant. Irma wore a full traditional Buckskin and beaded outfit, and is remembered for her vocal rendition of the "Indian Love Call." She is survived by her husband, Richard E.A. Lyon; son, Jim Sutteer; daughter, Barbara A. Sutteer; grandson, Brett J. Sutteer; step-daughter, Elizabeth DeMichael; step-sons, Dr. Ken Lyon and John Lyon; sisters, Norma Quinn, Helen Wilkerson, Fern Burdick, Elva Gardner; along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by parents, Muse K. and Ivy Mae Harris, sisters, Merle and Eva; brothers Rodney and Albert. She married William "Bill" Sutteer April 10, 1936, then divorced Oct. 10, 1960. She later married Richard E.A. Lyon Nov. 13, 1974 in Scottsdale. Funeral services were held in Pinetop at the LDS Church April 17, and will also be held Wednesday, April 21 at 11 a.m. in Roosevelt, Utah, with visitation one hour prior to service. Burial will be in the Roosevelt Cemetery. Fletcher's Mortuary handled arrangements.
