The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona - 04/30/2004 May (Quintero) Altaha, 85, died April 23, 2004 in Whiteriver. She was born May 16, 1918 in Ft. Apache. May was a pioneer in establishing the Canyon Day Miracle Church. As the first secretary of the church, she had a vision for a new building and today this vision is reality. Her funeral will take place in the new Canyon Day Miracle Church. She was dedicated and committed to her family and her faith. May is survived by her daughters, Reva Barker, Kathy Ethelbah and Deloria Lee; sons, Delbert Altaha, Sr. and Corte Lee Altaha; sons-in-law: Don Barker and Aljolson Ethelbah; daughter-in-law, Virginia E. Altaha; god-daughters, Delaine Parker, Renee Quintero, Rosecillsa Cheney; 12 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren; along with many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. A wake will be held Friday, April 30 at 10 a.m. at Reva Barkers residence in Canyon Day, with funeral service Saturday, May 1 at 1 p.m. in the Miracle Church, Canyon Day with Bishop Leroy Tate officiating. Interment will be held at the Canyon Day Community Cemetery in Canyon Day. Silver Creek Chapel Mortuary of Whiteriver handled arrangements.
