PENA, Eddie Baca


The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona - 04/27/2004 Eddie Baca Pena, 90, died April 20, 2004 at his home in St. Johns. Eddie was born Nov. 20, 1913 in Springerville. He spent his younger years in California as a carpenter in both residential and commercial construction. He married Grace Sanchez in 1936. They had six children. Eddie liked to fish and he carried his love for carpentry into his retirement, making things from wood. His survivors include his wife of 64 years, Grace Pena; sons Eddie Pena, Jr. Fallbrook, California; daughters Virginia "Honey" Tafoya, St. Johns, Odelia "Odie" DuVall, Show Low, Grace Pusich, Mesa, and Benina Pena, St. Johns; 19 grandchildren; 37 great grandchildren; and five great great grandchildren. Also surviving him are his brother Antonio Pena, St. Johns; sisters Della Maestas, Phoenix, Beatrice Chavez, Phoenix and Mary Jaramillo, Phoenix. He was preceded in death by his parents Amado and Patricia Pena; son Frank S. Pena; brother Gilbert Pena and Amado Pena; and sister Sipriana Montoya. Funeral Services for Eddie were Saturday, April 24 at the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in St. Johns. Interment was at the Catholic Cemetery. Burnham-Jewkes Mortuary, St. Johns handled the arrangements.
