HOGAN, Michael David


The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona - 05/04/2004 Michael David Hogan, died on a clear night in the White Mountains with the moon waxing half full, at home April 27, 2004. He was loved by all, journeyed far. Michael was born Nov. 29, 1940, to Frank and Gayle Hogan on Butler Avenue in St. Paul, Minnesota. He lettered in football and graduated from South Saint Paul High School in 1959. As a teenager he built a boat in the basement of Butler Avenue. He camped and canoed the Boundary Waters of Northern Minnesota. He loved the water, he sailed the seas in a nuclear powered submarine and was honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy Aug. 9, 1968. He captained several sailboats and sailed the Peugeot Sound, Pacific Coast, and Sea of Cortez. He settled in Tucson and survived by his spouse, Melissa Hogan of Overgaard; daughters, Elizabeth and Geneva Hogan of Tucson and Phoenix; brother Dennis Hogan; and sister Nancy Synan of Saint Paul, Minnesota; sister Pat Pangerl of Pine City, Minnesota; sister Margie Demuth of Sierra Vista; brother Tim Hogan of Germany; and brother Terry Hogan of South Saint Paul, Minnesota. He was preceded in death by his father, mother and oldest brother Frank Hogan II of Olwein, Iowa. Owens Mortuary of Show Low handled the arrangements.
