Grace Sanchez Peña, 87, died at her home in St. Johns, May 2, 2004.
Grace was born in McNary Sept. 26, 1916. She married Eddie Baca Peña in July of 1936. They started a family and moved to California, returning to St. Johns in the 1950s. They spent the rest of their lives there. They were married 68 years.
Grace liked to crochet and made many pretty things using the craft. She also liked to pass her time working puzzles, but her real passion was fishing.
Her survivors include daughters, Virginia "Honey" Tafoya, Odelia "Odie" DuVall, Grace M. Pusich and Benina Peña; son Eddie Peña, Jr.; 19 grandchildren; 37 great grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Eddie Baca Peña; and son Frank S. Peña; brothers Antonio Leal, Frank Sanchez, Jr. and Earnest Sanchez; and sisters Inez Padilla and Lola Casados. Also her parents Frank and Virginia Sanchez.
A rosary will be held for Grace at 7 p.m. Friday, May 7 at the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Funeral Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 8 at the same.
