The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, Arizona Wednesday, April 7, 2010 Barbara Jane Miller, 73, died Monday, March 22 at Good Samaritan Medical Center in Phoenix. Barbara was born Nov. 8, 1936, in Garden City, Kan., to S.C. and Mary Jordan. In 1951, the family moved to Pomona, Calif., where she graduated from high school in 1954. After graduation she returned to Garden City and Oct. 17, 1954 she married Lawrence Miller and settled in the Holcomb, Kan., area. A homemaker, Barbara later obtained her cosmetology license and owned her own beauty shop. After many winters spent in Wickenburg, in 1998 she moved from Kansas and divided her time between Wickenburg and Colorado. She enjoyed playing bridge, traveling, had a passion for animals, and loved spending time with her family. Survivors include sons Gary and Tim Miller, both of Holcomb, Kan., and Tom Miller of Garden City, Kan.; daughter Cheryl Hand of Lawrence, Kan.; sisters Ellen Gilliam of Pasadena, Calif., and Bonnie Hassall of Wickenburg; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and two sisters. Funeral services and burial took place in Garden City, Kan. Memorials are suggested to the local Humane Society.
