Arizona Daily Sun, Flagstaff, AZ Wednesday, April 7, 2010 Emily Garcia Alonso, 93, died Friday, March 26, 2010, at The Peaks nursing home in Flagstaff. Mrs. Alonso was born March 30, 1917, in El Paso, Texas, to Manuel and Maria Garcia. She attended Loretto Academy, a private, all-girls Catholic school in Santa Fe, N.M. She also attended school in Los Angeles. She spent her summers in Flagstaff and finally settled here with her first husband, Ralph Juarez Sr. They had four children from this marriage, Hortense De Lintt (Robert), Delphine Sainz (Rojelio), Ralph Juarez Jr. (Debra) and Richard (Maurice) Juarez. She was a member of The Guadalupanas of Guadalupe Catholic Parish and was also a Cursillista, which is person in the Catholic faith who strives to assist people of faith become more fully the unique person that God created them to be. Mrs. Alonso and her family owned The Motel Sierra Vista for many years. She finally sold it so that she could enjoy her family. She enjoyed cooking and listening to her large collection of music and enjoyed baking things to share with friends. In July of 1970, she married her second husband, Pablo Alonso, and they shared 40 happy years together. Mrs. Alonso is survived by her husband, Pablo Alonso; two daughters; one son; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her mother; sisters Alice and Stella; brother Ray; son Richard "Rico" Juarez; and one grandson. Holy rosary will be recited Saturday at 10 a.m., followed by funeral Mass at 11 a.m., both at Our Lady of Guadalupe Chapel, 224 S Kendrick St. A private burial service will be at a later date.
