Irwin I. "Doc" Peiffer, 98, formerly of Flagstaff, died Friday, April 2, 2010.
Mr. Peiffer was born Nov. 16, 1911, in Upper Darby, Pa., to Irwin Sr. and Mary Peiffer. He married Mary E. Ernst Aug. 29, 1931, in Spring City, Pa.
He was an Eagle Scout and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of American Legion Post No. 0062, in Peoria and was a member of Mesa Lodge No. 68 Free Accepted Masons for 52 years. Prior to moving to Phoenix, Mr. and Mrs. Peiffer lived in Flagstaff for more than 20 years.
He is survived by daughter Elizabeth (Watson) Stepp; two grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
An inurnment with military honors will be Friday, April 23, at 9:30 a.m., at the National Memorial Cemetery in Phoenix.
Chapel of the Chimes Mortuary of Glendale is handling arrangements.
