The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona - 06/18/2004 Elaine Elsie Stirling, 84, wife of the late Wilbur Eugene Stirling went to be with the Lord June 6, 2004. She was born Elaine Elsie Ebeling March 15, 1920 in Chicago, Illinois. She met and married Wilbur from Colorado. They were married at Wee Kirk Of The Heather Chapel in 1946 at Forest Lawn, Glendale, California. Her dream after raising her family was to go to beauty school and become a cosmetologist. She owned a beauty shop in California, and after her husband's retirement, she sold it and they moved to the beautiful red rocks of Sedona in 1976, where Elaine remained following Wilbur's death in May 1999. She was an active member of First Church of Christ Scientist, Sedona. She was actively involved in the Ladies Auxiliary of the Red Rock Memorial Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of Sedona. Also the Verde Valley Republican Women. She also volunteered at the Verde Valley Medical Center. She regularly visited her friends in assisted living. Her legacy "She loved much." Elaine had four sisters, her oldest Florence (Wilbur) Urquhart of Encino, California preceded her in death. The other surviving sisters are Mae Griffin of Glendale, California, Renis (Knute) Anderson of Camarillo, California, Lucille Thompson of Penfield, New York; son Gene (Valerie) Stirling of Lakeside; daughter Renis (Paul) Ducharme of Phoenix; her grandchildren Sara Ducharme of Phoenix, Desiree Ducharme of Flagstaff, Robert Stirling of Lakeside, Cynthia Sterling (who has graduated from cosmetology school and wants to follow in grandma's footsteps) from Lakeside, Ned Ducharme of Phoenix. The Eastern Star will handle memorial services Saturday, July 24 at the Red Rock Memorial Lodge (by Sedona Airport) at 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to Arizona Masonic Charities, 345 West Monroe, Phoenix, AZ 85003-1684, or the charity of your choice.
