Rosario Verdugo Sisneros, 82, of Phoenix, Ariz., passed away Saturday, April 10, 2010, of natural causes. Rosie was born in Prescott, Ariz., on March 4, 1928. She lived on South Cortez Street for over 45 years and was a member of the Prescott Senior High School Class of 1947.
She started her career with Goldwater Department Store in Phoenix where she remained until her retirement. Rosie worked as a fashion sales personal in-store shopper to several customers. The Goldwater Department Store honored Rosie with their highest employee award, the Golden Cactus Pin, for her first 10 years.
The Goldwater Company gradually added four diamonds to the pin, each denoting 10 years of service. After she retired, Rosie began volunteering at Andre House then St. Vincent De Paul's Mission of Mercy. She truly loved her work alongside her daughter "Tomi." She made many friends among the Ladies of Charity.
Rosie was preceded in death by her husband, Arturo Sisneros, and her older siblings.
Survivors include her children, Mrs. Teresa Ann Morin, Mrs. Tomasita Nierzwicki (Michael), Mr. E. "Butch" Garcia (Nora), Mrs. Antonia D Romo (Noe), Mrs. Teresa Sisneros (Joe), and Mrs. Genevieve Thalheimer (Luke); grandchildren Mrs. Louisa Famularo, Mr. Angel Sisneros, Mrs. Brandy Garcia, Mrs. Lisa Ruiz, Mrs. Heather Holt, Mr. Michael Garcia, Mr. Guadalupe Morin Jr., Ms. Carina Morin and Dominic Sisneros; 24 great-grandchildren and one on the way; two nieces; four great-nieces; one great-great-nephew; and many friends.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 14, 2010, at Greer-Wilson Funeral Home, 5921 W. Thomas Road in Phoenix with Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 15, 2010, at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church, 3140 N. 51st Ave. in Phoenix.
Interment will follow at St. Francis Cemetery, 2033 North 48th St. in Phoenix. You may post condolences at www.greerwilsonfuneralhome.com.
