Dr. Transito "Ted" G. Baca, born Jan. 22, 1921 in Concho died peacefully July 5, 2004 in Dallas, Texas.
Dr. Baca was the fifth of seventeen children and spent his early years on the ranch of his maternal grandparents, Transito and Seferina Garcia.
Along with four of his brothers, Dr. Baca served his country in the Army during World War II. Upon returning from the war, he moved to Flagstaff, where he attended college, and then in 1951 moved to Downey, California, where he raised his family and pursued a career in education. In 1990, he moved with his family to Dallas, Texas to remain close to his children and grandchildren.
Dr. Baca received his Bachelors' Degree from Northern Arizona University, two Masters Degrees from the University of Southern California, and a PhD in Administration of Education from Claremont College. Dr. Baca had a lifelong passion for education and learning that led him to a 42-year career as a teacher, counselor, and principal in the Los Angeles Unified School District.
He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Lena Baca and his children, Transito (Lisa) Baca, Anthony (Diane) Baca, Timothy (Kelly) Baca, Fidel (Susan) Baca, Brian (Charlene) Baca, Joyce (Larry) Lacerte, Roxann (Misha) Vyazmensky, and Robert (Marika) Baca; his grandchildren Sara Baca, Cody Baca, Dallas Baca, Anthony Baca, Victoria Baca, Timothy Baca, Kyle Baca, Conner Baca, Kelsie Baca, Brandon Baca, Taylor Baca, Christine Baca, Hillary Baca, Garrett Baca, Kelsie Baca, Dillon Baca, B.J. Baca, Grant Baca, Kevin Baca, Megan Lacerte, A.J. Lacerte, Madison Lacerte, Monroe Lacerte, Quincy Lacerte, Adam Lacerte, John Lacerte, Wesley Vyazmensky, Spencer Vyazmensky, and Tyler Vyazmensky; brother, Tony Baca and sister, Serefina Diaz; uncle and cousin, to many and friend to all.
A Rosary and Mass was held at the Christ the King Church located in Dallas, Texas Thursday, July 8.
