Lola Myrtle Tucker, 96, died Thursday, July 1, 2004 at Navapache Regional Medical Center in Show Low.
Mrs. Tucker was born and raised in Ponca, Nebraska. She received her elementary and high school education in Ponca, she then attended Wayne State University in Nebraska and the University of Wyoming in Laramie.
It was there that she met and later married Ivan W. Tucker. She became a teacher at the age of 16, and taught in a one-room school in Cool Ridge, Nebraska. Mrs. Tucker taught school for 38 years and continued as a substitute for another 10 years. She came to Arizona from Missouri in 1964. She lived in Parker for a year before moving to Kingman in 1965. She has lived at the Carriage House on West Garden Lane in Snowflake for the past year and a half.
Mrs. Tucker gave her life to the Lord at an early age. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Kingman for 38 years and was a member of the Golden Circle Sunday School class. She served on the Kingman Museum Board for several years, and had been a member of University Women's Club, the Retired Teachers Association, The Home Maker's Extension club, and Friends of the Library.
Mrs. Tucker is survived by three daughters, Lola Mae Hill of Lubbock, Texas, Nadine Marrs of Kingman, Twyla Taylor of Holbrook; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was held at Owens Mortuary Heritage Chapel in Snowflake Wednesday, July 7. Additional services will be held in Kingman at a later date.
