Alice Marion Bowers Watson, a 29-year resident of Prescott, Ariz., passed away on Sunday, April 11, 2010, at Prescott Samaritan Village. Born Feb. 12, 1916, in Phoenix, Ariz., Alice was 94 at the time of her passing.
Alice was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church in Prescott since March of 1981. Alice attended Phoenix Union High School and Phoenix College, and graduated from Gregg Business College. She lived in Beverly Hills, Calif., for several years and worked in Los Angeles as an executive secretary at National General Corporation for 18 years.
She worked at Price Waterhouse for five years where she eventually retired. After formal retirement, Alice moved to Prescott and was very active in the Yavapai Rock Hounds and served as the secretary for two years. She was a member of the Prescott Chapter of the Arizona Archaeological Society and the Prescott Audubon Society, where she served on the board of directors for two years, and she volunteered for Community Cupboard, the Clarets of Sacred Heart Parish, and the Altar Society of Sacred Heart Parish. Alice was also active as the Precinct Committee Woman and Prescott Deputy Registrar for 10 years.
Left to mourn her passing are her niece, Mariann McEniry of Redondo Beach, Calif.; nephew Jerome (Jerry and Maggie) McEniry of Vista, Calif.; nephew Mark (Mark and Karen) McEniry of Seal Beach, Calif.; and niece Mary Sue Thompson of Buena Park, Calif. Alice was preceded in death by her parents Josiah Augustus Bowers and Concha Anna Soto Bowers; sister Alma Bowers Thompson Waldman; and sister Mary Elizabeth Bowers McEniry.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, April 16, 2010, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 150 Fleury Ave., Prescott, Ariz. Final services will be directly after at Mountain View Cemetery in Prescott, Ariz. A second memorial service will be in California at a later date for friends and family who are unable to attend the services in Prescott.
