Lake Powell Chronicle, Page, AZ Tuesday, Mar 23rd, 2010 On Tuesday, March 16, 2010, at the age of 74, Mary Louise Hawkins walked through Heaven's Gates as her husband of 55 years, Winston, was gently holding her hand at their home in Page. Soon after she entered Heaven's Gates, her family joined their father in singing hymns and praises as she was welcomed home. Mary Lou was laid to rest at the Page Cemetery after a celebration of life service performed by her son-in-law, Rev. David Phillippe, at the First Baptist Church in Page on March 20, 2010. Mary Lou was born in Butler, Pa., on July 29, 1935, to Kenneth Augustus and Margaret Catherine Blymiller. In 1947, at the age of 12, Mary Lou and her parents moved to Mesa, Ariz., where she later met and married Winston Keith Hawkins on May 29, 1954. In August 1972, Keith and Mary Lou moved to Page. Mary Lou was immediately employed by Page Unified School District and she began working at Page Middle School as a teacher's aide. She was later employed as the district receptionist where she worked for many years. She retired from the school district in 1995. Mary Lou enjoyed painting, caring for the roses in her garden and raising her three daughters: Sandra (David) Phillippe of Owasso, Okla., Laura (Lee) Mack of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Cathy (Jim) Conley of Page. Mary Lou is survived by her husband, three daughters, six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
