Ruth M. Eagar, 83, daughter of Joseph Benton Moore and Leora A. Husband Moore, died in her home July 9, 2004.
She was born March 18, 1921 on the family farm near Chireno, Texas, where she grew up. She attended college at Stephen F. Austin State Teachers' College for two years, then moved to Kingman, where she met and fell in love with Roland (Wig) R. Eagar. They were married Dec. 4, 1941 in Nutrioso. Eventually, there were four children born to them and they raised their children in Glendale.
In 1960, she and her family moved to Bountiful, Utah, where they resided for three years. From Utah they moved to Denver, Colorado where they lived until Roland's retirement in 1976 and relocated to Manti, Utah. During the time they lived in Manti, they served as full-time temple workers at the Manti Temple and Provo Temple and served a mission in the Spokane Washington Mission. In March of 1993, she and Roland moved back to Eagar where they have since resided.
Besides keeping busy as a homemaker, Ruth has enjoyed quilting, gardening, and family history. She has lived a quiet life of service and many families in the Eagar area have benefited as a result. She has been referred to as a "low Maintenance" wife for Roland because of the quiet way in which she supported and advised him throughout their married life.
She leaves behind "Wig" her beloved husband of 62 years; four children, Jeanne (Bill) Burrell, Pocatello, Idaho, Benton (Georganna), Littleton, Colorado, Clif Eagar, Tucson; and Virginia (Cris) McBride, Pinetop; 12 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; sisters and brothers of Chireno, Texas, Minnie Couie; Nathan (Patty) Moore and Preston (Carol) Moore and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Tuesday, July 13, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints at the Eagar Stake Center in Eagar.
Burnham-Jewkes Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
