Linda Thatcher Saline
Linda Thatcher Saline passed away Friday, April 9, 2010, at her home in Pima, surrounded by her loving husband and children.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, April 17, 2010, at 10 a.m. at the Pima LDS Stake Center by Bishop Gerald Schmidt of the Pima Second Ward. Concluding services will follow in the Pima Cemetery.
Linda was born June 6, 1943, in Thatcher to Alva Emanuel (Mannie) Thatcher and Doris Barney. After living in Safford, her father farmed in Gadsden, where she graduated as valedictorian of her eighth-grade class. Linda attended Yuma High School for one year, after which the family returned to Safford.
While attending Safford High School, she met her sweetheart and lifelong companion, Lynn Saline. They were married for time and all eternity in the Mesa Arizona Temple on April 18, 1963. Linda graduated from Eastern Arizona College that same year. After Lynn graduated from the University of Arizona, they moved to Phoenix and various other locations for a short time and finally made their home in Pima.
Linda was a very devoted wife and mother and found her greatest happiness in her family. She has been a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she held many positions, including Relief Society president in the Pima Second Ward. Linda spent many hours of compassionate service to anyone who was in need.
Linda is survived by her loving husband, Lynn of Pima; four children, Shelly Saline of Pima, Shannon Brown (Randy) of Buckeye, Ginger Bedolla (Marcos) of Pima, Jeremy Saline (Mary) of Pima; four brothers, Larry Thatcher of Farmington, N.M., Don Thatcher of Pima, Brent Thatcher of Pima and Clyde Thatcher of Safford; two sisters, Carolyn Roseberry of Safford and Evelyn Morris of Pima; 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Alva Emanuel (Manny) and Doris Barney Thatcher; her sister, Beverly Thatcher; and a granddaughter, Lindsey Brown.
Family will receive friends Friday, April 16, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Vining Funeral Home and Saturday morning from 9 to 9:45 a.m. at the Pima LDS Stake Center Relief Society Room.
