COOK, Daniel Lee


Eastern Arizona Courier, Safford, AZ Tuesday, May 28, 2002 Funeral ceremonies for Daniel Cook, 64, of Thatcher, were conducted Tuesday, May 21, at the Thatcher LDS Church Street Chapel by Bishop Mike Schern. Concluding ceremonies followed in the Thatcher Cemetery. Dan was born in Pima, the son of Floyd and Matti Lou Cook. As a child, Dan lived in Mesa; Lehi, Utah and California. He returned to the Gila Valley and attended Eastern Arizona College. Dan married Diann Hunt on Aug. 7, 1963, in the Mesa, Arizona Temple. They lived in Snowflake, Pinetop and later moved to Safford in 1975. Dan worked for the Safford School District in maintenance and later as a general contractor. Dan and his wife, Diann, dedicated countless hours of unselfish service at the Safford Care Center. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving in the Thatcher 6th Ward. Dan is survived by his wife of 39 years, Diann of Thatcher; his daughter, Donna Elizabeth Cook of Phoenix; three sons, Dan of Artesia, Shayne of Apache Junction, and Michael John Cook; brother, Floyd Cook; sisters, Betty Johnson and Deanie Cook; stepfather, Bernard Dillon of Pomerene; and eight grandchildren also survive. Arrangements for Dan Cook were entrusted to Bunker's Caldwell Chapel.
