Wilson Leander Farley
Wilson was born on Feb. 27, 1929, to Leander and Victor Farley in Enola, Ark., but moved to Safford about 1933 or when he was three years old.
He had four brothers and three sisters, all of whom have preceded him in death. Wilson died in Tucson Aug. 2, 2004, at the TMC Hospice Unit. He was 75 years old.
Wilson, better known as Willie, attended the Safford school system and then joined the U.S. Army, where he was a mechanic/truck driver. After being discharged from the Army, Willie came back to the Safford area, where he met and married Violet Good on June 29, 1957. Willie worked for Morris Sand & Gravel, Lindsey Creamery and Associated Grocers after retiring with years of service and contributions to the food industry. Willie and Violet have been married for 47 years.
Wilson retired in 1992 from driving trucks. Violet and Willie spent many good times camping and fishing at Big Lake. Their togetherness was important to them, and they enjoyed the beautiful outdoors and the quiet. Willie loved his family very much and worked hard to provide for them. Willie loved to fish, hunt and just camp out.
He is survived by his wife, Violet, and their five children, Arthur M. and Beverly Pritchard of Safford, Larry and Wanda Pritchard of Tucson, Polly and Dale Gatlin of Hobbs, N.M., LeAnn Farley of Safford, and Vickie and Roger Adair of Apache Junction; 13 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Arrangements were entrusted to Bunker's Caldwell Chapel.
