Constance "Connie" Audrey Jensen, 79, died April 14, 2010, at the Olivia White Hospice House in Flagstaff. She was born Jan. 21, 1931, in Ames, Iowa, to Harry and Elvie Bowman.
She moved to Texas during high school and then attended Texas A & I. She married Bob Jensen and moved to Flagstaff in June 1961. She received her bachelor's and master's degrees from Northern Arizona University and taught fourth grade at Marshall Elementary School from 1963 until she retired in 1989.
Mrs. Jensen was an inspiration to others and she will be remembered for her caring and helpfulness to others, her keen mental skills and memory and the many travels she took with family and friends. She was a longtime, active member of Federated Community Church, Beta Sigma Phi (Alpha Alpha Chapter), Phi Delta Kappa education fraternity, Phi Beta Phi, Flagstaff Ski Club and helped the scouts of Troop 33 earn their merit badges.
Mrs. Jensen is survived by her brother, Trent Bowman; daughters Judi Anderson and Betty Gobeil (Norm); five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Robert Jensen.
There will be a celebration of Mrs. Jensen's life at Federated Community Church on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m., with a reception immediately following in Rees Hall.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to the Federated Church FYF Missions Fund at 400 W. Aspen Ave., Flagstaff, AZ 86001, or to Northland Hospice at P.O. Box 997 Flagstaff, AZ 86002.
