Arizona Daily Sun, Flagstaff, AZ Monday, November 27, 2006 Carmen Mayorga Lopez, 74, of Flagstaff, died Saturday, Nov. 25, 2006. She died peacefully at her home surrounded by her family after a long struggle with Alzheimer's disease. Mrs. Lopez was born July 27, 1932, in Flagstaff, to the Hispanic pioneer family of Eduardo and Maria Mayorga. She was their last surviving child. She attended St. Anthony's Catholic School and later graduated from Flagstaff High School in 1950. After high school she worked for Bob Fronske at Fronske Studios as a photographer's assistant. She thoroughly enjoyed her job. In 1952, she married Paul R. Lopez and became a full-time homemaker. Together they had four children. They were married for 54 years. A lifelong member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, she was also involved with Our Lady of Guadalupe Parochial School, which all of her children attended. Mrs. Lopez was a devout Roman Catholic and supported the church that her father, Eduardo Mayorga, helped build in 1925 and 1926, along with many other Hispanic families. Mrs. Lopez is survived by her husband, Paul R. Lopez; sons Vincent (Stephanie) Lopez and Gilbert (Loretta) Lopez ; daughters Cency (Phil) Alexander and Susan (Gabby) Almendarez; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents Eduardo and Maria Mayorga; brothers Albert, Richard, Fernando, Fred, Emilio, and Carlos; and sisters Margarita and Cecilia. Evening vigil and holy rosary will be Wednesday, at 7 p.m., at Our Lady of Guadalupe Chapel, 224 S. Kendrick. Funeral Mass will be Thursday, at 11 a.m., at Our Lady of Guadalupe Chapel. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, charitable donations be made in Mrs. Lopez's name to the National Alzheimer's Association, Northern Arizona Region, 225 Grove Ave., Suite B, Prescott, AZ 86301-2911 Condolences may be sent to the family at http://www.flagstaffmortuary.com.
